A Party Season Wishlist

It's always a difficult question to answer - what season do you prefer dressing for? After a lot of thought, and the realisation that I had been browsing ASOS and Topshop for hours, it came to me - I love winter fashion. The cosy jumpers and coats and boots, yes, but also the party wear. Here's a wishlist for you, the items I'm lusting after, and a few I've already bought...

Glitter Nails for Every Season

If you're like me, then you'll wear glitter nail polish all year round. However, I know some of you aren't so sparkle-inclined, and so here is my little suggestion for the glitter nails you can wear during this festive period, and every other season...

The November Post

Oh October, I swear you were only a week long. I know everyone says it, but this year has gone by so fast and this month barely existed as far as I'm concerned! I sadly didn't get to go on my Amsterdam trip but I still managed to have a productive week off uni, although I'm wishing I'd found some time to relax too because this month is bound to be a stressful one. Here's what I've got going on...

Glossier: The No-Makeup Makeup Brand

Glossier is shipping to the UK! I'm sure everyone reading this knows already, but it's still pretty exciting. I used restraint when ordering and only picked up the Phase 2 Set, Milky Jelly Cleanser and Balm Dotcom. I'm going to save the details of the skincare bits until I've tried more out - I'm looking at both of those masks - but I do have to say I'm a fan! Today however, let's talk Glossier makeup...

Currently Listening To... #2

I know I've mentioned before that I've got a pretty eclectic music taste, but I feel like this past month or so's picks are particularly varied! As described in the last playlist post, I've been collecting the songs I find myself listening to most often to make a mix for you to listen to. Here's round two...

The October Post

A few days late, but who's counting? For once, I'm really stuck while writing this post. Normally I give a quick overview of the previous month, and talk about my goals for the month to come, and it's all fine and dandy. But in September I went through a breakup and started my final year of uni within five days, signed up for a bunch of uni events I never normally would, and had a mighty cold for a good week+ of it. I've just been in a strange mood between pushing myself to make this year great, and wallowing in self pity because a massive chunk of my life is now gone. But anyway, I do have plans for this month, so here's what I've got on...

The Podcasts You Should Be Listening To

I'm such a huge fan of podcasts. As an 'I need a tv show on in the background' person, I love having conversations going on while I'm going through my day, whether it's blogging, cooking, putting away my laundry, walking to and from uni - the list goes on. So, as a self-pronounced podcast expert, here are the ones you need to give a go...

How to Make a Rented Flat Feel Like Home

As you may already know, I recently moved flat and so I've been in full decorating mode. I've moved five times in the last four years between student accommodation and rented flats so I've gained quite the bit of experience in decorating those awful magnolia walls. My room doesn't look exactly how I'd want it to in a place I owned, but I am pretty happy with how I've made it a comfortable and inviting place. Here are my tips to stop your rented room feeling like an non-permanent place, and more like home...

Everyday Makeup Loves

Here's a simple post for you, the makeup I'm currently wearing most days! In short, I've been enjoying a simple but bronzy base, a sheer wash of pearly colour over the eyes, and a pinky nude lip. It's the kind of look that suits most occasions, and can be amped up with a stronger lip or winged liner if you want to take it from day to night...

The September Post

August included moving back to Dundee and settling into my new flat, working my uni's open day and getting to tell a whole bunch of worried applicants and parents about my amazing course, and soaking up lots of family time before I and everyone else get back into the swing of non-holiday life. And as cliche as it sounds, I can't believe it's September already! I'm actually looking forward to having a proper schedule again, but wow did summer go by quickly. Here's what I've got coming up this month...

Photography Backdrops on Your Doorstep

Sponsored post

I've been blogging for a few years now, but I won't lie, one thing I still struggle with is finding a perfect backdrop for my fashion photography. I often got by in the early days in my bedroom or back garden with a tripod, but since moving to a city and being in rented flats with small bedrooms and no gardens, I've had to learn the art of scouting locations. Today's post, brought to you by Panasonic, features a few of my suggestions for places you can find in just about any city...

Currently Listening To...

I feel like music is something sorely lacking from this blog. I love music. I'm the kind of person who can hear a song and immediately recall a certain memory, person or emotion associated with that song, and whose Spotify saved list and vinyl collection grows pretty rapidly. I actually added a lil' Spotify playlist at the bottom of my sidebar a few months ago of a few pretty songs to listen to as you browse!

Beauty Worth the Splurge

We all know that highstreet makeup isn't anything to sniff at, but I've got to admit that I do love high end makeup. On that note, here are the beauty bits I'm more than happy to fork out for...

A Twist on Red Tees and Blue Jeans

I love denim, and I think one of the most classic looks in fashion is blue jeans and a red tee. I don't know what it is, but the combo is just so damn pretty. However, sometimes you need to be a lil bit dressy and so in steps this blouse, which guess what - I just love with jeans...

My Summer Shoe Wardrobe

I do love shoes, but I've never really been a Shoe Person. I tend to buy a pair then wear them to death, then move onto the next pair. And, I'm normally a black ankle boots lover. But when summer comes around those guys just don't cut it. When I'm not in trainers I need something that's lighter and a tad dressier, so along come summer shoes...

Fragrance Favourites

As the years go by I get more and more obsessed with perfume. I'm not so much of a hoarder that I have lots of untouched bottles - I use them all up! - but I do have a little collection growing. I thought I'd do a run-down of my collection, the fragrances I always wear, and explain what ones are nice and what ones I couldn't live without. As in, I'd buy them over and over again...

The August Post

July started with me coming back from a lovely holiday, had me moving home for a few weeks while I'm between leases, and ended with me getting ready to move into my new flat. In between all the moving about, I was searching for jobs, buying pretty clothes, working on the Freshers issue of Magdalen, and generally just trying to organise my life. How one person can have so many belongings, I'll never know. Anyway, here's a look at the month ahead...

A Chat About Happiness

It's crazy how the minute you step away from a toxic situation, the better you feel. I've talked about the issues going on in my life recently a few times now (you can read here and here if you're interested) so I'm not going to talk about it here, but I do want to write a bit about how I'm feeling now. It's been two weeks since I left that place and those people behind, and I feel so much better for it.

Giving Green Eyeshadow a Try

We all know I'm not the most adventurous with makeup. More and more I've been upping my confidence, such as wearing nude lipsticks (I always used to think I couldn't pull them off and now they're practically all I wear) or warm eyeshadows (I always thought orange or rust colours would look awful but I love them), but one thing I've never really done is wear a colour on my eyes. As in, an 'unnatural' colour. Such as green...

A Purifying Cleanser to Try

I've been faithful to the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel for nearly two years now, but as I was running low I had the bizarre notion to try something new. As you guys might now, I've been struggling with a lot of breakouts on my skin recently, and even though I don't think the Oskia is causing it at all, I didn't think it would hurt to try something that supposedly helps with problem skin. And guess what, I actually really like it...

The Bardot Dress of Dreams

This post is a shout out to all the people out there with big boobs who just can't wear bardot tops or dresses. You know the struggle - you can't wear them with a normal bra, strapless bras suck (or maybe that one is just on me!), and often going braless means a weird shapeless mess that ruins that style of the top. But your prayers have been answered folks, because this dress is a good'un...

When it comes to summer (Scottish summer, that is) you can usually get away with jeans and a tee on sunny days. But sometimes we're greeted with a heatwave, and skin tight jeans just won't cut it. I thought one of these rare days coupled with a walk to the Botanic Gardens would be a great day to test out my new favourites; some super flowy striped trousers.
