Blonde Hair Care for Beginners (From a Beginner)

I'm new to this whole bleached-blonde-hair care thing but I thought I would type up a little post for beginners to blonde hair, from a beginner with blonde hair. I don't have my entire head dyed so I can't talk too much about root upkeep, but I do have a few things to say about caring for yo' hair.

Any bleached hair is going to be dry as hell to begin with, so I can't stress enough how important it is to get that moisture back in! Make sure to condition every time you wash it (I recommend leaving it on your hair for at least 5 minutes before rinsing) and every now and then use a mask. I wash my hair once a week and so I tend to use a mask every two weeks. I've been loving BLEACH LONDON's Reincarnation Mask for this - it smells lovely and is super thick and moisturising.

My second tip is all about toning. A purple toner is essential and I find the easiest way to go about it is to buy a silver (purple) shampoo. ProVoke's Touch of Silver Shampoo is a favourite of mine because it works immediately by brightening my blonde hair and knocking out all the brassy tones, and it's super cheap at around £3 a bottle! I only got my hair (re)bleached a few weeks ago so it does still look a little brassy, but I would say after two more washes it should all be knocked out.

And lastly, heat is not your friend. If you must use a hairdryer or heated tools then make sure to use a heat protectant, but I do recommend air drying and going with the au natural look if possible, at least soon after you've gone and bleached it.

So there you have it, some pointers I've picked up along the way of this whole bleaching process. It's not exactly mind-blowing, but I hope my beginner's tips are helpful nonetheless. I love my blonde grown-out-roots-ombre-hybrid-thing going on, and so I want it to last as long as possible. If you have any more pointers please leave them below!
